Develop an internal app that monitors delivery status.

There were multiple challenges when developing an internal application for monitoring delivery status. Truck drivers must be able to easily upload proof of delivery and precisely indicate delivery statuses using the app. One of the main concerns was making sure these functionalities operate consistently in different environments. Furthermore, the admin must be able to quickly allocate jobs to drivers and instantly update their application. In order to incorporate these capabilities with robust performance and user-friendly interfaces, challenges related to image processing and data synchronization had to be overcome.

Approach

The goal was to ensure readability and high-quality images while putting a robust verification system in place.

For delivery confirmation, the platform requires drivers to upload clear, signed, and sealed invoice images. It was important that the text remained readable and the photographs were clear. We’ve included Google ML Kit to improve text accuracy and readability in order to address the issue. To further enhance verification efficiency and standardize submissions, the program also turns the recorded photographs into PDF format. This dual strategy simplifies the verification process for administrators by addressing the challenges of text extraction and image quality.

Result

The app was fully customized to fit the client’s requirements and it successfully met and exceeded expectations.

The application was designed and successfully installed on the drivers’ customized Android devices using SOTI. With the built-in barcode reader, drivers can rapidly scan the barcodes written on invoices, and the embedded camera allows them to take high-quality pictures of the invoices after delivery. This simplified method considerably improves the overall delivery tracking process by increasing efficiency and accuracy while uploading proof and recording delivery statuses.
